With pleather booths and a railroad apartment-style pass-through, eating at Duck N Bao feels like eating in the cafe car of a train from some recent but bygone era. If that train had a rich, juicy peking duck, which comes out on a faux marble board that looks like it came from Ikea (so maybe it is like Amtrak after all). The pancakes that come with it are just wet enough to seal and hold the hoisin and julienned veggies from falling out. The soup dumplings are pretty legit, and if you want something that’s a little more Chinese-American, the honey walnut shrimp comes in a healthy portion bathed in an extra creamy, sweet sauce.
