A new location of the restaurant Duck N Bao will open this spring in Rice Village, bringing Peking-style duck, soup dumplings and other Sichuan specialties.

The eatery will be located at 5215 Kelvin Drive, Houston, according to a Jan. 4 news release. Duck N Bao is owned by husband-and-wife duo Leo and Grace Xia.

Menu offerings are prepared from scratch, and the Rice Village location will feature several new options, including triple-cooked short ribs; duck fried rice; truffle soup dumplings; and lobster tails served three ways—stir-fried salt-and-pepper style, with XO sauce, or with a truffle sauce finished with freshly shaved truffles.

Drink options will include the distilled Chinese spirit baijiu as well as a selection of cocktails and a tea service.

The eatery will seat 100 guests across a 2,600-square-foot dining room and a 1,000-square-foot patio, according to the release. A semiopen kitchen will allow guests to watch as fresh dumplings are made by hand.

Furnishings will include built-in display cases that will showcase authentic Chinese artifacts and serve ware imported from China, some of which will be for sale, according to the release.

“We’ve been looking for a great location in Rice Village for a long time,” Grace Xia said in a statement. “Being near the university brings a youthful vibe and a constant influx of new students arriving every year. We love the neighborhood and look forward to sharing our authentic Chinese food with Rice Village residents and visitors.”

Other locations can be found in Cypress, where the eatery was launched in 2020, and in the Memorial area.
